If you're not a multi-billionaire, the 2022 Honda HPD Civic Si FE1 is an affordable way to get into racing with its $55,000 price tag. The Civic Si FE1 is produced at Honda's Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, Ohio. Deliveries will begin in November, according to the manufacturer.
The purpose-built Civic Si FE1 loses the sunroof, soundproofing, underbody treatment, and seam sealer compared to the road vehicle. It keeps the production-spec 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with five power levels to choose from depending on the series' performance level.
The Civic Si race vehicle has a six-speed manual transmission with a high-strength fourth gear. Meanwhile, the clutch and flywheel are from the road vehicle. A large number of additional elements are added to the suspension.
All four corners have double-adjustable Bilstein dampers, and two spring rate choices are offered. The Civic Si FE1 is equipped with Wilwood six-piston calipers with Pagid RST3 pads and slotted rotors for braking.
In addition, bumper-mounted cooling vents and stainless steel braided hoses are added by Honda. The rear incorporates production-spec components. Meanwhile, inside the Honda HPD Civic Si FE1 is a TIG-welded steel tube roll cage. The driver is secured into a six-point OMP halo seat and steers using a quick-disconnect steering wheel. A Motec C127 multi-function screen is also included.
