Hilux Revo GR Sport Lo-Floor Is Really Unusual

Toyota's Thai subsidiary is aiming to revive the street truck tradition by introducing a tough Hilux model inspired by the Super GT racing cars. It's incredibly low and two-wheel-drive, but it's joined by a higher, more off-road-oriented performance variant with a four-wheel-drive and a few suspension tweaks.

The new Revo GR Sport versions are allegedly focused on racing, illustrating two opposing extremes of the Hilux spectrum. The lower variant is appropriately named Lo-Floor, and it rides on 17-inch wheels with tiny tires to match.

A body package for Lo-Floor vehicles comprises a black grille with a body-colored frame, front splitters, and side skirts, among other things. There are also decals included in the kit. Low-riding riders will enjoy red and black leather, red contrasting stitching, silver highlights, and the usual array of GR insignia from the inside.

The four-wheel-drive variant, dubbed Hi-Floor, is a homage to Toyota's participation in the World Rally Championship (WRC) with a Yaris. Returning to the streets, the Hi-Floor is a more traditional vehicle with a revised front bumper, body-colored fender flares, and 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in chunky tires. The Hi-Floor model's suspension has been upgraded with monotube shock absorbers.

When kept stock, the Lo-Floor is powered by a 2.8-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine that produces 201-hp and 370 lb-ft of torque. Despite the purported racing heritage, Toyota did not indicate mechanical changes. Just a six-speed automatic gearbox transmits power to the rear wheels. The specifications aren't accessible, but we're speculating it uses the same motor.

Both vehicles are now for sale in Thailand. The two-wheel-drive Lo-Floor variant costs around $27,500, while the four-wheel-drive version is $40,100.
