Goodyear Unveils the Wrangler DuraTrac RT: A Tire for All Seasons and Terrains
by AutoExpert | 26 September, 2023
As fall sets in and winter looms on the horizon, Goodyear has its eye on the future with the introduction of the Wrangler DuraTrac RT. This new iteration of the popular DuraTrac series aims to be a game-changer in the world of all-terrain, all-season tires, specifically designed for light trucks and SUVs.
What sets the DuraTrac RT apart? The tire comes with a dual certification that makes it suitable for harsh winter conditions: a Mud and Snow (M+S) rating along with a 3 Peak Mountain Snowflake certification (3PMSF). This ensures that the tire complies with both US and European standards for severe snow use, offering drivers enhanced grip and safety in snowy conditions.
Although it retains the durability needed for off-road exploits, the tread pattern on the DuraTrac RT has been optimized for on-road use. It's less chunky compared to its predecessor, offering a smoother drive without sacrificing grip. The tire also incorporates Kevlar protection and a robust three-ply sidewall to resist punctures and tears, ensuring longevity. The DuraTrac RT even comes with a 50,000-mile treadwear warranty and is available in a wide range of sizes—from 16 to 20-inch rims, except for 19-inch wheels. Goodyear has not provided a reason for this particular exclusion.
Michiel Kramer, director of product marketing at Goodyear, summed it up best: "From summer off-roading to snowy on-road drives, the new Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac RT provides drivers with the power and versatility to tackle any road or trail, in any weather condition—rain, snow, or shine."
This new addition follows closely on the heels of another Goodyear revelation. Just a few days ago, the company announced the Wrangler Boulder MT—an aggressive, off-road-focused tire that serves as Goodyear's flagship option for trucks and SUVs.
