Cosmic Elegance: Inside BMW’s Stunning X7 Nishiki Lounge Concept
by AutoExpert | 5 February, 2025
BMW’s turning heads with a stunning nod to Japanese craftsmanship in the form of the X7 Nishiki Lounge concept. It’s the latest in their lineup of custom creations, designed as a “relaxing space filled with beauty, where stars sparkle.” Sounds dreamy, right?
The exterior flaunts a slick BMW Individual Velvet Blue paint job paired with a Space Silver upper section that’s meant to evoke the “sparkle of nebulae shining in space.” Throw in those Crystal Light headlights and the Iconic Glow grille, and it looks like something straight out of sci-fi.
The real magic happens inside. BMW partnered with Japanese artisans to deck out the cabin. There’s custom foil trim from Rakugei Kobo that mimics a starry night sky using a special lacquer process. Even cooler, the amount of lacquer used affects the shine and color of the foil.
The center console is a showstopper, wrapped in shimmering kuska fabric with a foil effect to represent sparkling stars. It even subtly tapers from 4 mm to 2 mm for a sleek, layered look. Floor mats? Oh, they’re next-level too, created by textile masters Kawashima Selkon using a traditional "ikat dyeing" method to depict the universe.
Topping it all off, there’s a Panoramic Sky Roof with 15,000 LED accent lights for that starry vibe, plus a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System and crystal flourishes scattered throughout the cabin.
BMW did not provide specific performance details, but the concept appears to be based on the X7 xDrive40d. So, you're probably looking at a 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel pumping out 347 hp and 531 lb-ft of torque. In case you're wondering—yeah, it'll hit 62 mph in 5.9 seconds. It’s like a cosmic art gallery on wheels.
