Fresh News! Acura Claims Integra Will Be Back In 2022
by AutoExpert | 13 August, 2021
Acura didn't simply reveal the 2022 NSX Type S late Thursday during Monterey Car Week. The premium brand showcased Integra, one of its original names from its 1986 introduction. It will reappear next year via a drone show.
The carmaker also shared a single teaser shot for those who weren't able to attend. With sleek, geometric headlamps and a diamond-shaped grille, the new Integra will follow the brand's contemporary design language. It does, however, include a lovely homage to the previous generation, with “Integra” lettering right beneath the driver-side headlamp.
Acura Vice President and Brand Officer Jon Ikeda is pleased to announce that Integra will return to the Acura range with the same fun-to-drive spirit and DNA as the original, demonstrating our dedication to Precision Crafted Performance in every manner – design, performance, and entire travel experience.
At the moment, Acura is keeping quiet. The drone show produced a "sleek silhouette," according to those on the scene, including CNET's Daniel Golson, although it's unclear how many openings the Integra will have. Meanwhile, a leaked dealer presentation slide from last year indicated that a New Compact Sedan will be added to the range.
We're only speculating here, but the 2022 Integra is expected to keep to tradition and employ the wonderful new Honda Civic's chassis. The Civic Type R engine may be used in a more powerful Type S variant, which would be appropriate given that the Integra Type R was North America's first experience of the famed red badge. A manual gearbox appears to be a genuine possibility. 2022 Integra may even include a hybrid powertrain.
We're happy to see the Acura Integra nameplate reappear in whatever shape it adopts in 2022. Acura will release additional information about the new Integra in the following months.
