Ford Shelby GT500KR Comes Back With Over 900 HP And Carbon Fiber Package
by AutoExpert | 16 December, 2021
In honor of Shelby American's 60th anniversary next year, the business will release a new Ford Shelby GT500KR model. The third-generation GT500KR is based on the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and boasts a 5.2-liter V8 engine with a 3.8-liter Whipple supercharger, an intercooler, and a heat exchanger, making it the "King of the Road."
A cool air entrance and a Borla cat-back exhaust are also included in the combo. The motor will produce more than 900 hp (671 kW / 913 PS) at the wheel as a result of these changes. The basic GT500 has 760 hp (567 kW / 771 PS) and is currently awaiting final specs.
Ford Shelby GT500KR has been modified with performance half-shafts, height-adjustable springs, Ford Performance sway bars, and a re-calibrated MagneRide suspension in addition to the engine modifications. Caster camber plates, reinforced wheel studs, and 20-inch forged aluminum wheels with "performance spec tires" are also included with the vehicle.
A hood, front splitter, rear diffuser, and Gurney flap are among the carbon fiber elements on the model's stylistic front. There are also rocker lines and lots of Shelby badging for purchasers. A wide-body package, colored stripes, and Le Mans stripes are also options. Reupholstered leather seats, stitched floor mats, and a personalized numbered dash plaque greet you as you enter the cabin.
Shelby will begin taking orders on February 1st, but the first production version will be auctioned off on January 29th in Scottsdale by Barrett-Jackson. The Carroll Shelby Foundation and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund will benefit from the earnings. Ford Shelby GT500KR kit costs $54,995 and is available for any GT500 from 2020 to 2022. Only 180 will be sold in the United States (60 each model year), with the rest 45 sold internationally.
