Ford GT Cuts 12 LBS by Replacing the Windshield with Gorilla Glass.

Every car maker is trying to lose some weight (who isn't) by replacing heavy components and parts with lightweight materials. Ford GT goes one step further and replaces the windshield with the same type of glass that your smartphone has.
Gorilla Glass is about 32% lighter than regular windshield glass and will shave around 12 pounds of weight. Since Ford GT is all about speed and acceleration, even those 12 lbs will make a difference.
Gorilla Glass is made of 3 layers. One is strengthened for protection, the middle one is from plastic and absorbs noise and the one outside is an unleaded glass.
