Meet the automobile with one of the largest V12 engines ever installed in a production vehicle. Yes, it's a Jaguar XJ-S from 1985. In comparison to any Lamborghini, Ferrari, or even the McLaren F1, its motor is massive. This Lister XJ-Ses was originally registered to Jaguar in late 1985, before being purchased by the newly revitalized Lister firm (WP Automotive Lister Cars) in 1987.
From then, the iconic Le Mans makeover took place over time. There's no denying that the Jaguar XJ-S owned by Lister has a certain allure. This is also said to be the only cabriolet ever manufactured.
The classic 5.3-liter V12 was enlarged to a huge 7.0-liters in this XJ-S, resulting in over 500 horsepower and more than 510 pound-feet of torque. The Getrag five-speed manual transmission was installed in all of the Lister conversions since the V12's automatic transmission couldn't handle it.
The Lister suspension package, which comprised 100 % stronger springs at the front to accommodate that huge motor, the unique body kit, the magnificent Lister wheels, and a massive exhaust were among the other changes.
The Lister was acquired by its former owner a decade ago and underwent a full restoration with XJ-S experts KWE shortly after. The cost of work totaled more than £100,000.
The body was removed to replace and then cover any fragile steel, the color was repainted and the transmission was restored. Likewise, the brakes were renovated, the inside was redecorated, and the motor was made much more ferocious. With the help of a custom exhaust and some ECU trickery, KWE was able to unlock an additional 60 horsepower, demonstrating just how much potential remained in the V12.
Since its repair, this Jaguar XJ-S has only done 2,000 kilometers, bringing the total mileage to nearly 10,000. Much easier to understand is the asking price of £125k.
