Crate Versions Of The 807 HP V-8 Found In Dodge Hellcat Redeye Are Now For Sale
by AutoExpert | 3 October, 2021
Hemi V-8 from Challenger and Charger Redeyes will be sold as a crate engine starting today. It has 807 hp and 717 lb-ft of torque on 91-octane fuel and starts at $21,807. The engine, dubbed the "Hellcrate Redeye," joins Dodge's other four crate engines in the range, and sits between the 1000-hp "Hellephant" 426 cubic-inch V-8 and the basic 707-hp "Hellcrate."
A larger-displacement supercharger (2.7 liters vs. 2.4 liters), greater boost pressure, a stronger rpm (6500), forged internals, and a new valve spring design that Dodge claims increases oiling by 33% were among the improvements found in the Redeye variant. The oil pan is intended to keep lubricant flowing at up to 1.8 g during acceleration, preventing starvation.
A throttle body, injectors, coil packs, a water pump, and a flexplate are all part of the engine, which is dyno-tested for 42 minutes before delivery. For an extra cost, Dodge will offer you parts to install a manual gearbox as well as supplementary drive elements such as an alternator, a power steering pump, belts, pulleys, and much more.
The Hellcrate Redeye is already available for preorder, so if you've been looking for an engine to power your classic Charger and are willing to spend more than $20,000 on one, this could be it.
