Classic Recreations Unveils $1.2M Carbon Fiber Shelby Cobra With Over 800 HP

Classic Recreations, based in Oklahoma, is now transforming the Shelby Cobra with its world-renowned carbon fiber body treatment. In honor of Shelby American's 60th anniversary, the Diamond Edition recreates the design of Shelby's CSX Cobra reproductions in stunning carbon fiber.
The 88 lbs body shell is built on a later 1965 Cobra, thus it has extended fenders and a hood scoop instead of the sleeker design of earlier versions. The lightweight body is mated with an 800-hp version of Ford's 5.0-liter V-8 engine, which is aided by a supercharger to reach such a high output.
A 6-speed manual gearbox drives the rear wheels, and the motor smokes through a stainless-steel exhaust system with side pipes. Although performance data aren't public, Classic Recreations has hinted on its website that a prototype now under development is expected to deliver incredible results. Shelby Cobra clone also has independent rear suspension, and Wildwood brakes with 6-piston calipers in front and 4-piston calipers in the back offer stopping power.
On the dash, each Shelby Cobra will have a diamond-encrusted logo with a replica of the late Carroll Shelby's signature. Only ten Diamond Editions will be produced, each costing $1.2 million. Classic Recreations also stated that the Diamond Edition will not be street legal.
