In a recent press release, Citron revealed that the C5 Aircross now offers the option of a new engine and that the current C5 X and C5 Aircross plug-in hybrid has been increased by 15%.
The 180 e-EAT8 plug-in hybrid powertrain is a new option for the C5 Aircross. It has a 1.6-liter engine and one electric motor, and it is meant to be a replacement for the previous PureTech 180 internal combustion version. They provide up to 180 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque when combined.
Moreover, the electric motor has the potential to generate 109 horsepower on its own. That's fast enough for highway driving since it can push the automobile to speeds of up to 84 mph. The C5 Aircross 180 e-EAT8 has a range of up to 36 miles when running only on its battery pack (12.4 kWh). Pricing for the new model begins at €43,650 (about $42,563).
Both the C5 Aircross SUV and the C5 X have received updates to their 225 e-EAT8 plug-in hybrid drivetrain. Although it still has the same number of cells as its predecessor, the new technology boosts its power capacity from 13.2 kWh to 14.2 kWh.
This results in a 15% improvement in range for both models. This means the C5 X now has a total electric range of 39 miles, up from 34 miles, and the C5 Aircross now has a total electric range of 40 miles, up from 34 miles. The powertrain's specifications haven't changed. In both cars, the output remains at 225 horsepower.
