Camaro SS EPA Rating is 28 MPG? On a V8 Engine?

Aside from looking badass and having increased power over previous-generation Camaro, the 2016 version has another trait: amazing fuel efficiency. This is the last thing you'd expect from a V8 engine and yet, it received a Camaro SS EPA rating of 28 mpg.
The 2016 SS has 4 miles per gallon better efficiency than the 2015 version. And it wasn't achieved through power downgrades. On the contrary, the 2016 Camaro SS is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine good for 455 hp. Actually the 28 EPG is obtained due to 8-speed automatic transmission and cylinder deactivation system.
If you chose the manual transmission you get 16 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highways. This is the same efficiency as you'd find in a Mustang GT with 435 hp and a 5-liter V8.
