BMW X5 xDrive45e iPerformance Gets a Dramatic Makeover: Wide Body Kit, 23-Inch Wheels and Dark Finishes
by AutoExpert | 27 September, 2023
In the realm of high-performance SUVs, BMW’s X5 M and M50i often steal the spotlight. However, M&D Exclusive Cardesign has decided to shift the focus to the plug-in hybrid variant of BMW's X5—the xDrive45e iPerformance. Collaborating with Prior Design, they have given the pre-facelifted model a dark and menacing makeover that includes a comprehensive body kit, 23-inch wheels, and lowered air suspension.
A Sinister Facelift
Previewed earlier in March 2023, Prior Design's body kit has now been unveiled on the electrified BMW X5 for the first time. The package consists of broadened front and rear fender flares, a splitter, a bulging bonnet, a new rear diffuser, and dual spoilers.
Painted in Cosmos Black Metallic, the exterior has been further darkened with black vinyl coverings. Even the BMW emblems haven’t been spared, resulting in a completely blacked-out look.
The Wheels Have It
The finishing touch to this transformation comes from dark-finished multi-spoke 23-inch wheels. These complement the aggressive nature of the body kit, and M&D Exclusive Cardesign suggests alternative wheel designs such as the Z-Performance ZP.Forged Mono rims.
Regardless of the choice, these wheels come shod in Continental SportContact 7 tires, measuring a generous 315/25ZR23. The SUV also sits lower to the ground, courtesy of a Cete module applied to the stock air suspension. Additionally, H&R wheel spacers ensure perfect alignment with the wider fenders.
Powertrain Untouched
While the aesthetics have been dramatically altered, the SUV's powertrain remains stock. The plug-in hybrid system incorporates a 3.0-liter six-cylinder petrol engine, a single electric motor, and a 24 kWh lithium-ion battery. This combination generates a respectable 388 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque.
Pricing Unrevealed
While the upgrades dramatically transform the look and stance of the BMW X5, the company has not yet disclosed the cost of these enhancements. It is mentioned, however, that these upgrades are also available for other fourth-gen BMW X5 trims equipped with the M Package.
