BMW has unveiled a new car accompanying the Formula E 2016 championship. This is the new X5 hybrid range of models that will join the existing fleet composed of already driving "doctors" BMW i3 and BMW Pace Car i8. But the X5 will act as a carrier to provide assistance to the transport trucks.
Formula E is a relatively young branch of motorsport which was established by the management of the AIF only three years ago, in 2012. A year later, in 2013, held the first inaugural race and since then the things have advanced more. Now BMW is preparing to attend the 2016 championship and to be well seen, ensured that also presents the models more eco-friendly, mentioned above, i3, i8, and X5.
The SUV with a plug-in hybrid engine is powered by an internal combustion engine 2.0-liter volume and an electric motor powered by a 9 kWh power battery. Their total strength reaches 313 hp 450 Nm of torque, guaranteeing a fuel consumption of fewer than 3 liters per 100 km in a hybrid! In full-electric mode, the Bavarian can travel a distance of 30 kilometers.
Other features worth mentioning are the sprint from 0 to 100kmph in 6.8 seconds while reaching the maximum speed of 210 km/h.
