The BMW i3 eDrive35L, a completely electric four-door sedan built on the 3-Series long-wheelbase variant, will be sold in China starting in May 2022. The i3 eDrive35L is the name given to the first completely electric 3-Series to separate it from the previous i3 hatchback.
It receives new LED headlights, an encased kidney grille to indicate its electric essence, a reimagined front bumper with various intakes, new side sills, aero wheels, and a new rear bumper with an incorporated diffuser.
The vehicle is equipped with the Gen5 eDrive drivetrain, which is also found in the iX3, i4, and iX. The rear-mounted electric motor generates 282 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, enabling a 0-62 mph acceleration time of 6.2 seconds.
With an energy usage of 14.3 kWh/100 km, the floor-mounted battery has a capability of 70.3 kWh gross, good for a distance of 327 miles. According to BMW, the battery can charge at 95 kW DC and 11 kW AC. It takes 35 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% in the quickest charging mode, providing 60 miles of range in just 10 minutes. Lastly, the suspension has been carefully modified primarily for Chinese traffic conditions by BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd's R&D department.
