by AutoExpert | 5 April, 2023
Audi aims to present a showcar at Auto Shanghai 2023 later this month as part of its goal to disclose more information regarding its role as an engine supplier in Formula 1 beginning in the 2026 season, according to a company spokesperson.
This news follows Audi's initial intention to enter the sport in August 2022. The information was revealed in an interview with Automotive News Europe. The Auto Shanghai 2023 event is set to begin on April 18 with the first press day and conclude on April 27 with the final public day.
The 2026 season is still a ways off, but Formula 1 has already confirmed two major modifications. To begin, instead of the existing 10% renewable ethanol blend, the vehicles will utilize purely synthetic fuel. Moreover, turbocharged V6 engines will still be employed, but up to 50% of the output will come from electric power. Also, the FIA World Motor Sport Council hopes to recruit new entrants by lowering operating expenses.
