2024 Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance: The Revamped Powerhouse with 831 HP
by AutoExpert | 6 October, 2023
The Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance 4-Door Coupe has undergone a significant facelift for 2024, showcasing design influences from the new AMG GT Coupe. Available for purchase in Europe, this super-sedan now features updated exterior styling, including a revamped front grille and an additional color option.
The aesthetic changes are most visible at the front, where the new design boasts a wider and shorter lower grille. This update effectively transforms the earlier expansive outboard intakes into sleek vertical slits. Framing this redesigned grille are advanced Multibeam LED main headlights, along with added black trim gracing the grille's bottom section.
Inside, the changes are less dramatic but equally significant. Mercedes has made the electric sunroof and rear-seat wireless charging pad standard amenities. Additionally, the MBUX infotainment system now includes AMG-specific displays with customizable features. As for the audio experience, a standard Burmester Surround Sound System fills the cabin, although buyers can opt for the more premium Burmester High-End 3D Surround Sound System.
Underneath the stylish exterior lies the real beast: a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 plug-in hybrid engine. This powerhouse delivers an unchanged but still jaw-dropping 831 horsepower (620 kilowatts) and 1,033 pound-feet (1,400 Newton-meters) of torque. The engine collaborates with the AMG Speedshift MCT 9G nine-speed transmission and the AMG Performance 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system to ensure unparalleled performance.
Keeping with the model’s impressive 2021 debut stats, the vehicle can rocket to 62 mph in just 2.9 seconds and boasts a top speed of 196 mph. Advanced AMG high-performance ceramic composite brakes, active rear-axle steering, and the AMG Ride Control+ suspension with adaptive damping ensure optimal handling and control.
For exterior customization, a new color option, Opalite White Metallic, has been added. Wheels and upholstery choices remain as before. Pricing for this updated super-sedan starts at €207,708.55 in Germany, which translates to roughly $218,686.99 based on current exchange rates.
As for optional packages, buyers can choose from AMG Performance seats, the AMG Aerodynamics package, two AMG Night packages, the AMG Carbon package, and the AMG Chrome package. Other special selections include the Active Multicontour Seat package and Manufaktur Selenite Grey Magno paint.
