Honda is driving its electrification ambition forward with the announcement of the 2024 Honda Civic Hybrid Sedan heading into production in Spring 2024.

This new entrant is set to reinforce Honda's range of electrified models in the US, accompanying the CR-V and Accord hybrids on the green roadway.

Springing into Production:

The production journey of the Civic Hybrid sedan will commence at Honda’s Ontario plant in Canada, come Spring next year. Following closely will be the hatchback version, with its production set at the Indiana Auto Plant. The heart of these eco-friendly machines, the two-motor electric powertrain, will be birthed at the Honda Transmission Plant in Ohio. Moreover, the 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle gas engine, a core component, is slated for production at the Anna Engine Plant in Ohio.

The Power Behind the Hybrid:

While Honda holds back on revealing the exact output numbers for the Civic Hybrid's powertrain, insights from the European model suggest a robust performance. The Euro-spec Civic Hybrid harnesses the power of a four-cylinder engine and two electric motors, delivering a strong 181 horsepower and 232 pound-feet of torque. This setup is completed with Honda's e-CVT, ensuring a smooth, efficient ride. Drawing parallels, the Accord Hybrid, flaunts slightly higher power figures, promising a compelling performance for the Civic Hybrid too.

An Electrified Vision:

Honda’s vision of an electrified future shines through with the Civic Hybrid’s entry into the US market. Roxanna Metz, plant co-lead of the Indiana Auto Plant, reflects the company's pride in playing a pivotal role in Honda's electrification strategy. With hybrids constituting over a quarter of Honda's sales in the US, the anticipation around the Civic Hybrid is palpable.

Customer Transition to Green:

Honda foresees a significant shift towards hybrid models among its customers. With over 50% of new Accord buyers opting for the hybrid version, Honda projects that at least 40% of the new Civic sales will echo this green choice post the Civic Hybrid’s launch.

2024 Honda Civic Hybrid

The 2024 Honda Civic Hybrid is more than just a car; it's a statement of Honda's commitment towards an eco-conscious automotive future. As Spring 2024 approaches, the automotive realm waits with bated breath to welcome this new emblem of green mobility.
