The 2023 Sportage PHEV is the latest addition to the Kia Sportage series. It will be available alongside US variants with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder motor or a hybrid with a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine. The 2023 Kia Sportage PHEV is likewise powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder motor with 177 hp.

This engine is paired with a 66.9 kW electric engine and a lithium polymer battery. The only available gearbox is a six-speed automatic. The total output has not been stated by the Korean manufacturer, but we estimate it to be a little more than 260 hp.

Kia Sportage PHEV also comes with a 7.2 kW high-efficiency on-board charger, which Kia claims will take about 2 hours to fully charge when connected to a Level 2 charger. Moreover, the vehicle comes standard with an Integrated Electronic Brake and regenerative braking. The EPA ratings will be released at a later date, but it should be the most fuel-efficient Sportage variation on the market.

The automaker is also aiming for a 32-mile all-electric range. Customers may choose between the X-Line PHEV AWD and the X-Line Prestige PHEV AWD versions of the Sportage PHEV. Kia Sportage PHEV version, like the X-Line cars with other engines, has a more sturdy look on the outside.

Both variants provide a slew of safety measures as standard equipment. Driver Attention Warning, LED headlights with High Beam Assist, Rear Occupant Alert, Lane Following Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance, Rear View Monitor with Dynamic Parking Monitor, Reverse Parking Distance Warning, Blind Spot Collision Avoidance, are just a few of the features available.

All of these benefits are available on the flagship X-Line Prestige PHEV AWD, as well as Blind-Spot View Monitor, Forward Collision-Avoidance with Junction Turning capability, Forward Parking Distance Warning, High Driving Assist, and much more. Kia Sportage PHEV will go on sale in the third quarter of this year, with pricing to be disclosed later.
