2022 Ford GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition To Make Its Chicago Debut
by AutoExpert | 9 February, 2022
Another unique version of the Ford GT was hidden away for the final year of production. The 2022 Ford GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition pays homage to Alan Mann Racing's lightweight racing prototypes from 1966 while emphasizing the significance of prototypes in the evolution of the race-winning GT.
The No. 16 graphics' red and gold livery with Frozen White highlights is based on the 1966 Ford AM GT-1 prototype, which will be on display alongside the current version. Furthermore, the 2022 Ford GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition has visible carbon fiber on the aero elements, reflecting Alan Mann Racing's commitment to lightweight materials.
The 20-inch carbon-fiber wheels with red and black Brembo brake calipers are another standout. On the inside, the steering wheel, instrument panel, headliner, pillars, and seats have lots of bare carbon fiber blended with black Ebony Alcantara upholstery.
The headrests are stamped with the GT emblem and have gold and red piping. The dash has subtle gold details, and the paddle shifters are dressed in Alan Mann Red. Although Alan Mann Racing's two racing prototypes (the AM GT-1 and another vehicle based on the GT MK I) didn't win important races, lightweight components were later used in the Le Mans-winning 1966 GT MK II, adding to the cars' illustrious racing history.
The Alan Mann Heritage Edition will be manufactured in small quantities. According to the carmaker, it is already accessible to approved Ford GT buyers, with first deliveries set for the first quarter of 2022.
