VW T7 Multivan Teaser Leaves Us With More Questions Than Answers
by AutoExpert | 20 May, 2021
Even it is scheduled for June 10thT, Volkswagen decided to give us a glimpse at the Volkswagen T7 Multivan. The teaser reveals new details and an official name for its hybrid variant - Multivan eHybrid. Presented carrier for the lithium-ion battery, an electric motor, a turbocharged petrol engine, and a dual-clutch transmission, this concept is going to rock the roads.
Volkswagen is shy as usual when it comes to revealing too many specs at once, but now we know that the van will carry its battery mounted underneath the floor and for maximum interior space and a lower center of gravity. Remember that this is an eco-friendly vehicle offered with wall boxes for quick charging at home.
While Volkswagen didn’t delve into numbers, they hinted the Multivan eHybrid will have an electric-only range which is high enough that “typical daily distances can be covered without emissions.” The company also said the van will start in e-mode “whenever possible,” in order to maximize efficiency and reduce emissions. However, at higher speeds or when the battery is low, the turbocharged engine will kick on.
Volkswagen truly believes that a wise combination of electric motor and petrol engine ideally fuses sustainability with the typical all-around qualities of an MPV. According to Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ head of design, Albert Kirzinger stated that any owner of such a hybrid vehicle could go about its everyday life in the city fully electrically while enjoying the benefits of a powerful hybrid drive if a longer drive is necessary.
We’ll know more about the T7 Multivan during its official unveiling on June 10th maybe more at the launch scheduled in the second half of this year.
