VW ID.4 Has A New Title To Share Named World Car Of The Year
by AutoExpert | 21 April, 2021
The electric crossover, Volkswagen ID.4, was voted the 2021 World Car of the Year, and this is the fifth time Volkswagen got its projects awarded worldwide. This 2021 competition was a tough one because the opponents were the Honda e and Toyota Yaris to take top honors.
The brand's statement, towards the glorious victory this year, was delivered by Thomas Ulbrich, the board member for Volkswagen Development. "The World Car of the Year award marks a great success for our entire ID.4 team. We have succeeded in developing a car that starts the system change to e-mobility in the world’s most important segment of compact SUVs and offers excellent everyday usability."
Also, Mercedes got the 2021 World Luxury Car award for the Mercedes S-Class model. And this one also competed against big brands such as Land Rover Defender and Polestar 2. It seems like this victory is worth a noisy celebration.
The 2021 World Performance Car title went Porsche for its 911 Turbo model. Imagine their joy after winning over Toyota GR Yaris and the fabulous Audi RS Q8. Also, Honda e won the 2021 World Urban Car title by winning over electric hatch Toyota and Jazz models.
Despite losing other awards, the Land Rover Defender still landed the World Car Design of the Year, and it won over the same Honda e and Mazda MX-30. As you have noticed, not many brands went home empty-handed. Almost everyone got himself a title to show the judges worldwide recognition.
