The GTE Sport Coupe Concept from Volkswagen is not an absolute novelty, as it was presented more than a month back at the Geneva Motor Show. But do not confuse them! What we have below is the C Coupe GTE version, an evolution of the concept presented earlier!
Although at a first glance it does not seem too impressive, you should know that the new coupe model, wears 22-inch wheels, is over 5 meters in length, 1930 mm in width, and can easily fall in the limousine category with a wheelbase of 3001 mm!
With this new model, Volkswagen actually targets the automotive market in China.
This tells us that Volkswagen C GTE Coupe will get the green light for mass production, but the final version will undergo some design changes. The new model will be positioned between the Passat and Phaeton models and will probably tackle the premium segment.
We cannot be sure whether the Germans will keep just four passenger seats and the center console separating them, the fact is that the idea is not so bad and we could see such an approach in the cases of Audi Prologue Avant and Prologue Allroad.
Volkswagen C GTE Coupe is powered by a drive train plug-in hybrid, consisting of a TSI petrol turbo-aspirated engine and an electric motor with a summary of their power reaching 245 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque.
Officials say the new prototype recorded consumption of 2.3L /100km, while harmful emissions do not exceed the limit of 55 g/km and the distance covered by this Hybrid reaches the 800 km threshold.
