Volkswagen Announces Updates For Their 2022 Lineup

VW of America already has unveiled a few 2022 cars, but now, the firm is revealing details about the other of their portfolio.

Going to start with Arteon, a new 2.0-liter TSI motor with 300 hp (224 kW / 304 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque is available. That's a 32-hp (24-kW/32-PS) and 37 lb-ft increase (50 Nm). A new seven-speed DSG gearbox replaces the existing eight-speed automatic in the 2022 Arteon, in addition to a more ferocious engine.

The SE R-Line receives a wireless smartphone charger, park distance control, and restyled 18-inch alloy wheels as the only other improvements. All-wheel drive is now standard on the SEL R-Line, the mid-level model. Although the improvements are nice, the starting price is $39,995. This is a $3,000 increase over the model from last year. Continuing, the Atlas range for 2022 has been “simplified” to six trim levels, with the entry-level S model being deleted.

Atlas SE now comes standard with an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, while the Atlas SE with the Technology package provides third-row USB-C connections as well as a trailer hitch for versions powered by the VR6 motor. Finally, all-wheel drive and 20-inch wheels are now standard on SEL models.

The price jumps to $33,475, thanks to the removal of the entry-level trim. That's a little more than last year's version, but the Atlas SE is $1,430 less expensive than its forerunner.

The revisions to the Atlas Cross Sport are essentially equal to those to the Atlas, with the exception that the entry-level S variation has been removed and the remaining trims have been upgraded. Atlas Cross Sport SE prices at $32,775 - a $1,920 gain over the previous model, but a $1,430 savings over the prior Atlas Cross Sport SE.

Volkswagen has also announced that the Jetta and Jetta GLI would be updated in 2022. The facelifted GLI was captured by spy photographers last month, and it has a mildly changed appearance with a honeycomb mesh grille and reworked air intakes.

Of course, Volkswagen of America has already unveiled several other 2022 vehicles, including a facelifted Tiguan and all-new Golf GTI, Golf R, and Taos. As we know, Passat will be phased out at the conclusion of the 2022 model year, thus a Limited Edition variant is being added to celebrate the end of the line.
