by AutoExpert | 29 September, 2023
After months of anticipation fed by sketches and snapshots, Honda has finally shared new details about its much-awaited 2024 Prologue EV. The vehicle is making headlines for its affordability and range, setting it up as a serious contender in the electric SUV segment.
Price Expectations and Availability
Starting at an estimated high-$40k before any tax benefits or incentives, the Prologue is targeted at the mass market, aiming to offer a blend of luxury and affordability. Full pricing information will be released closer to the vehicle's launch, but consumers can expect to place pre-orders later this year for delivery in early 2024.
Power and Efficiency
In terms of performance, Honda has confirmed that the Prologue will feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system with a total output of about 288 horsepower and 333 lb-ft of torque. Those who prioritize efficiency can opt for a front-wheel-drive model that boasts equally reliable acceleration.
Impressive Range
Honda has engineered the Prologue with a lithium-ion battery pack of 85 kWh capacity, allowing for an estimated 300-mile range per full charge. Moreover, the vehicle will support fast charging up to 155 kW, which can add 65 miles of range in just ten minutes.
Charging Options
Each Prologue comes with customizable charging packages. Buyers can choose a $750 credit for public charging, a portable 7.6 kW charger with a $250 installation incentive, or an 11.5 kW home charging station coupled with a $500 installation bonus.
Design and Dimensions
The Prologue's sleek, aerodynamic design is complemented by standard 19-inch wheels, with an option for 21-inch upgrades. The vehicle stretches 192 inches in length and has a generous wheelbase of 121.8 inches, making it slightly larger than Honda’s existing Passport SUV.
Interiors and Amenities
Inside, Honda has done well to distinguish the Prologue from its GM-based origins. Even the entry-level model features an 11-inch digital dashboard and an 11.3-inch infotainment system integrated with Google services.
Buyers can also enjoy luxurious add-ons in higher trims like leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.
Additional Features and Safety
The top-end Prologue Elite comes with standard AWD, heated and ventilated leather seats, and a more dynamic Sport mode for enhanced driving experiences. Safety-wise, Honda’s Sensing technology offers an array of driver assistance features, including Blind Zone Steering Assist and Rear Pedestrian Alert.
