Toyota GR Corolla Receives A Subtle Yet Captivating Makeover In Japan
by AutoExpert | 30 August, 2023
After unveiling the 2024 Toyota GR Corolla for the US market, Toyota is now rolling out similar updates for its Japanese counterpart. Some interesting changes are in the works, including the introduction of a brand-new Cyan Metallic exterior color, upgrades to the bolts holding various chassis components, and some tweaks to the front air ducts.
Toyota has some exclusivity in mind, with just 50 units planned to sport this distinctive color choice. The striking Cyan Metallic paint option will only be available with a black interior featuring stylish blue stitching.
In the quest for better performance, Toyota has also fine-tuned the bolts used to secure critical parts like the front suspension member, steering, and gearbox. The new rib-shaped flange on these bolts aims to enhance their fastening rigidity.
Additionally, the bolts on the rear suspension member have been given a bit of a makeover with a wider head. All these bolt improvements come together to deliver improved steering response and an overall sense of stability on the road.
Tinkering under the hood isn't on the menu this time; the existing suspension setup and the gutsy turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder petrol engine with 300 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque remain unchanged.
The power still flows through the reliable 6-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission and the GR-Four AWD system, which boasts front and rear limited-slip differentials. For eager Japanese buyers, Toyota is making a limited run of just 550 units.
This unique opportunity will set you back ¥5,250,000, roughly $35,859. But don't just pull out your wallet; Toyota is taking a different route to find owners. They're going with a lottery system where potential buyers can apply until September 11.
