Once we could see a few official images released prematurely, the new generation Jeep Cherokee was officially unveiled at the New York Auto Show 2013.
The younger Jeep Grand Cherokee's brother is built on a modular platform of the Alfa Romeoâs origin, the same underlying the Dodge Dart model, and wants a midsize SUV that offers both comfort and serious abilities off-road.
Both bridges have independent suspension, and among the four-wheel-drive systems offered, there is also Jeep Active Drive Lock, which comes with a gearbox and a rear differential lock.
The new Cherokee will be available in four equipment versions - Sport, Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk. Thus, the Sport version targets those, who almost never leave the asphalt drive, the Trailhawk version has a viewfinder of the most adventurous, as it comes, as standard, with the Active Drive Lock.
While the exterior design has sparked many discussions, the interior is more conventional, with two board dials behind the wheel and a center console dominated by a color screen.
The new Jeep Cherokee will be available with a choice of two petrol engines, together with an automatic gearbox with nine steps. The base engine is called Tigershark MultiAir 2, it has a capacity of 2.4 liters and develops maximum power of 184 HP, while the maximal torque is of 232 Nm. The second engine is a V6 Pentastar one of 3.2 liters that produces 271 HP and 324 Nm.
Jeep Cherokee will be sold both in a 4x2version, and in the 4x4 version, and will get a lot of safety systems, also ten airbags, the blind spot monitoring, cruise control controlled by the radar, the traffic lane overcome detection and the parallel and perpendicular parking assistance.
