Delage, a French vehicle maker, hopes its D12 hypercar can break the Nurburgring production car lap record. It was unveiled in functioning form for the first time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. According to Delage, the D12 Club variant of the car should be ready to complete a lap of the Nordschleife in 6:40.
In 2023, Delage plans to race the D12 in order to break the record. The production vehicle lap record is currently held by the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, which completed the course in 6 minutes, and 44.97 seconds.
The automobile is being developed in two versions, the D12 GT and the D12 Club. Both have a 7.6-liter V12 engine that produces 976 horsepower at 8,200 rpm and 614 lb-ft of torque at 6,200 rpm. The D12 GT combines this motor with a tiny electric engine that adds 109 horsepower, bringing the total output to 1,085 horsepower and 794 lb-ft.
The D12 Club, on the other hand, has the same 7.6-liter V12 in the same configuration but uses a 20-hp electric engine. Combined power and torque are 652 lb-ft and 996 horsepower. Delage claims the D12 GT can reach 62 mph in 2.6 seconds while the D12 Club requires 2.9 seconds to reach the same speed.
