The 650-HP Nichols Cars N1A Is A True Marvel Of Automotive Engineering
by AutoExpert | 27 July, 2023
Nichols Cars has produced a street-legal sports car dubbed the N1A, which draws its design cues from the legendary 1960s-era McLaren M1A prototype race car.
The company founded by Steve Nichols, a well-known Formula 1 personality with experience in the application of carbon fiber, has revived the essence of the M1A by producing 100 N1A cars in a limited run.
The N1A is propelled by a colossal 7.0-liter V8 engine hand-assembled by Langford Performance Engineering technicians. This engine is capable of generating 650 horse power at its peak performance. It weighs only 1,984 pounds, resulting in an outstanding power-to-weight ratio of about 700 horsepower.
Due to the vehicle's light weight, the power-to-weight ratio is remarkable. The vehicle's design is redolent of vintage Can-Am racers, but it integrates modern elements such as Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear rims and a fully independent suspension.
The N1A's interior is straightforward and designed with the driver in mind, including a gated manual transmission and fender-mounted side mirrors. Traction control is a standard feature, whereas anti-lock brakes and power steering are available as options. In a nutshell, the driving experience is prioritized.
The production run will be limited to 100 vehicles, each with its own unique number. As a bespoke creation with a restricted run, the Nichols Cars N1A is expected to carry a hefty price tag.
