The 500 horsepower Mitsubishi Lancer (R) Evolution!

The strict Pollution rules are forcing the Japan's Mitsubishi to adopt a new philosophy regarding the future generation of the performance model, which would mean that the new Lancer Evolution would position itself as a different model and not as a Sports derivative of the compact sedan. Several unofficial sources claim that the repositioning will be in a higher segment, not so accessible to the public. Thus, according to Autocar, Lancer Evo XI could classify in the same segment with Nissan GT-R and Porsche 911.
There are some legendary cars against which the Japanese will fight with a hybrid propulsion system (combining the resources of a turbocharged petrol engine with the potential of two electrical units to achieve a total output of 500 horsepower), created specifically to provide a perfect combination of performance and low power consumption. However, the platform that will host the project will be the same Lancer due to economic reasons, and as the new Lancer generation will come next year, we can expect that Evo version will debut within 24 months after it.
The Mitsubishi Super-All Wheel Control system will also be available, but its mechanical configuration will be replaced by one in which the electric motors will deliver the resources to the rear axle.
The architecture used this year by Mitsubishi at the famous Pikes Peak Race for the MiEV Evolution II model seems to be one the most suitable options for what will be called in the following years a new chapter of Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution history.
