Luxury limousines segment is dominant, even in the US, by the German brands Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, through the limousines A8, Seria 7 and S-Klasse. Only that Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla Car Company, decided to attack directly the German heavy names.
According to the sales statistics, the berlin electric Tesla Model S, which many credited as a great commercial failure before the launch, was sold in the first four months of the year 2013 in a total number of 4,750 copies on the North American market. This fact does not mean much in the dry figures, but, compared with the German luxury limousines, the situation is absolutely stunning. Tesla Model S is much better sold than the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (3,077 copies), BMW 7 Series (2,338 copies) or Audi A8 (1,462 copies).
