Terrible Recall for Aston Martin!
by AllAutoExperts | 7 February, 2014
Sad news for Aston Martin`s clients: the British builder announced a major recall due to some problems arising from the accelerator. According to the official press release, 17,590 cars will be recalled for service, which is about three quarters of all Aston Martin`s models from 2007 to the present.
All left-hand drive models produced from November 2007 to the present will be subjects to this recall. Right-hand drive models are not so affected by the recall; only the ones from 2012 to date are expected for service.
The defection of over 17,000 Aston units is generated by the use of counterfeit components, specifically the throttle arm. The Chinese company Shenzhen Kexiang Mould Tool Co. Limited, Aston Martin`s official supplier, responsible for casting throttle arm, has used counterfeit plastic material provided by another Chinese company - Synthetic Plastic Raw Material Co. Ltd. in Dongguan.
Although, the plastic was certified as an official product of DuPont, further checks showed that it was a counterfeit material. After investigating the issue since May 2013, Aston Martin has decided to call for service the damaged models in order to replace the free accelerator pedal arm.
The Aston Martin`s spokesman said there were no reported accidents or injuries caused by the fault on the accelerator.
