Teased Volkswagen T7 Multivan Is Longer Than Any Other Vehicle

For a clearer look at the new T7 is teased longer than a usual video teaser campaign. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles shows off the new official renderings of the T7 along listing a few technical specifications. First of all, we remind you that the T7 is scheduled for its official debut in mid-June.
Finally, we’ve got a lasting confirmation of the previous rumors about the van making the transition to VW Group's omnipresent Modular Transverse Matrix. The company's commercial arm has confirmed the reports surprising us with revamped Multivan. The final product features a longer wheelbase compared to the T6.1 model and boasts wider tracks for more interior space.
New sketches show off the van’s generous greenhouse and an extra window at the A-pillar to improve visibility. For an intriguing harken back the German automaker used the T1 from 1950. You can even spot the traces of previous generations where the side profile was inspired by the T3 (1979-2002). For a stronger visual effect, the hood derived from the T4 is stretched laconically forward beneath the windscreen.
From the previous teaser images, the German automaker revealed a dashboard design with a pair of screens similar to the one used in a Golf Mk8, along with a tiny gear switch for the automatic transmission and the possibility to switch to a shift-by-wire DSG setup. The new T7 will no longer feature the manual gearbox or the traditional handbrake lever, leaving more space between the two front seats.
The T7 has its debut scheduled next month and will be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Details are slightly inexistent for the rendered Multivan, but its PHEV system will likely be an adapted version of other electrified MQB-based compact cars. For extra comparable features, the T7 Multivan will be offered alongside the T6.1-based Transporter to show off the new underpinnings of the envisioned Volkswagen future.
