Speed Without Limits: Mercedes-AMG’s PureSpeed Has Arrived!
by AutoExpert | 10 December, 2024
Mercedes-AMG has just unveiled the stunning PureSpeed, a roofless reinterpretation of the SL63 that brings concept car dreams to life. Only 250 examples of this ultra-limited model, part of AMG's exclusive new "Mythos" series, are available. Aimed squarely at collectors and enthusiasts, it captivates with its Formula 1-inspired halo bar and jaw-dropping design.
The red-and-black livery and #10 graphics on the fenders are a tribute to the legendary 1924 Mercedes-Benz Targa Florio race car, which clinched victory in its namesake event. If that’s too bold, you can opt for a matte silver finish that harks back to Germany’s classic racing colors.
The PureSpeed borrows styling cues from AMG’s own hypercar, the One, with a unique front fascia and custom aerodynamic elements tailored for its roofless, windshield-free design.
The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed and the SL63 share many similarities, such as a powerful 577-horsepower 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, a nine-speed automatic transmission, and sophisticated features like all-wheel drive, hydraulic roll control, and rear-wheel steering.
To enhance the open-air experience, Mercedes includes a pair of helmets designed with aerodynamics in mind, complete with an intercom system. Drivers and passengers can chat, listen to music, or take calls via the car’s infotainment system.
The minimalist cabin features a standout detail: an IWC Schaffhausen clock mounted prominently on the dash—a touch of luxury to complement the thrill of speed.
The PureSpeed, channeling AMG's racing heritage into a dramatic, modern icon, is as much a statement as it is a machine. Pricing and US availability remain under wraps.
