S-Class Sales Slump: Mercedes To Reduce Production At Sindelfingen Plant
by AutoExpert | 21 August, 2024
Due to lower-than-expected sales in Germany, Mercedes is scaling back production of new S-Class vehicles. Later this year, the facility responsible for manufacturing the S-Class will shift to a single-shift schedule.
Producing the current generation S-Class, the Sindelfingen factory known as "Factory 56" opened its doors four years ago. During this time, the plant has always operated in two shifts. This will change when the decision is made to reduce the production of the luxurious S-Class.
Mercedes' management has announced the relocation of certain workers to different production locations. In this context, reports also indicate a decrease in S-Class model sales in all key markets during the first half of the year. Marklines' data analysis revealed a decline in sales, with a 13% drop in China, 19% in the US, and 27% in Europe.
