Petersen executive director, Terry Karges, told an audience at the Lodge at Pebble Beach just before the Concours d'Elegance Awards "We're on track and we're on a budget, we will be open on Dec 5".
The museum was closed for a $125 million facelift last October and in that time they have garnered a relationship with Pixar Animation Studios which will mean there will be displays at the museum from Pixar's "CARS" movie. In addition, they have made sponsorship agreements with Ford, BMW, Maserati, Automobile Assn. of America, X-Box, and the insurance giant AIG.
The Petersen, located at Wilshire Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue houses one of the preeminent car collections in the world. Most of the collection has been at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library but will return to the museum this fall.
It is a haven for car fanatics and if in the Pebble Beach area it should not be missed.
