Opel Flextreme GT / E concept - the most aerodynamic concept ever seen!

The Opel Flextreme was the basis for the Opel Flextreme GT / E concept, aiming to demonstrate the inclusion of a drive train into a bigger sized car.

The aerodynamic shape of the concept ensures an aerodynamic coefficient of 0.22, which in translation means that the car will be able to reach the best performances and speed with the help of the electric engines. The main differences come from the Vauxhall Flextreme GT / E wheels, which, unlike other hybrid cars, are constantly driven by electricity. Another system that has already been used on an Opel model, Ampera to be more specific, is the E-REV technology, which is also present in the GT/E concept. This addition helps reach a maximum speed of 125 mph, with the first 100 km/h being reached in little less than 9 seconds. The drive train ensures an autonomy of 40 miles, exclusively on batteries.

Once the batteries become too weak for powering the car, the 4 cylinders 1.4 engine replaces it and acts as a generator, sufficient for another 300 miles. The CO2 emissions are little less than 40 g/km.

The concept car has been designed based, first of all, on the aerodynamic requirements. This is especially obvious from a side view. We can say, however, that the shape is interesting and has more style than any hybrid models. The front of the car is enriched with beautiful LEDs.

The 21 inch wheels are narrow and this helps reduce wind resistance.

One of the concept's features is the flexibility and adjustability of the car to the road conditions. For example, when a speed over 30 mph is reached, there is a vertical panel that extends on the body which flows the air and reduces the turbulences.
