Nissan presented at the Shanghai Motor Show a concept called Friend-ME, which is the concept of a sports sedan with four seats designed specifically for young customers in China. This concept is the result of the collaboration between Nissan Design China from Beijing and the Nissan Global Desing Centre.
Shiro Nakamura, the Nissan vice president and the head of design has coordinated the project. The design presented by this concept is a sporty one with low ground clearance and reduced front and rear consoles, which gives it an aggressive look. Nissan will use a PureDrive hybrid propulsion system for this model.
The interior is futuristic with a digital center console that reaches the two rear seats. There is a separation between the four seats to highlight that this car`s occupants are equal. Each passenger can access a screen, displaying information about the car.
The number of customers at a young age has increased significantly in China in recent years - there are already over 240 million Chinese born in 1980, they being the main target for the eventual production version of the Nissan Friend-ME concept.
