New For Australia Is The e-Power Hybrid-Equipped 2024 Nissan Qashqai

Australia recently confirmed the arrival of the new Nissan Qashqai, and it's bringing some exciting changes, including Nissan's e-Power technology. Until now, all locally sold Nissan Qashqai models had the trusty 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine under the hood, delivering 147 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque.
But for the 2024 model year, there's a twist: the top-tier Qashqai Ti can now be ordered with the innovative e-Power hybrid powertrain. If you're considering it, the Ti e-Power starts at AU$51,590, which is a $2,875 premium over the standard Qashqai Ti.
This e-Power hybrid system combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine generating 156 hp with a power generator, an inverter, and a 188 hp electric motor. Notably, the engine boasts advanced variable compression functionality. This technology allows real-time adjustments to the compression ratio, striking a balance between performance and fuel efficiency.
But there's more to the Qashqai Ti e-Power. It comes with a one-pedal driving mode called e-Pedal Step. With just a press of a button, you can experience regenerative braking forces of up to 0.2g. It doesn't bring the SUV to a complete stop but smoothly slows it down. If you're eager to get behind the wheel, Nissan Australia will start accepting online reservations for the Qashqai Ti e-Power on November 2, and the vehicle is expected to hit local roads in Q1 2024.
Nissan Australia's managing director, Adam Paterson, is quite enthusiastic about this development, making it clear that this technology will provide a smooth and exciting drive without the need for frequent recharging, no matter where your adventures take you.
