Mitsubishi Moonstone Is An EV Concept From The Future
by AutoExpert | 29 March, 2023
The Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) students recently created a new concept vehicle for Mitsubishi called "Moonstone," which is a fully electric SUV. The project's objective was to design an environmentally conscious SUV for 2035, with a particular emphasis on using sustainable materials. The resulting concept car was revealed at a special event held by IED in Turin, Italy, on March 28.
Mitsubishi Moonstone concept was created by a group of 18 students from the 2021–2022 Master Course in Transportation Design at IED Torino, consisting of international students. The team had the assistance of technical sponsors such as Pirelli, OZ Racing, and Lechler and the support of Mitsubishi. The full-size model was built by Freeland.car, MINTT, AM Costruzione Modelli, and Raitec.
The Moonstone concept vehicle has a unique two-door coupe-SUV body style, a high ground clearance, an aerodynamic shape, and a range of classic Mitsubishi design features. The LED headlights at the front of the vehicle resemble those seen on the Mitsubishi XFC concept car.
Mitsubishi Moonstone's profile is intricately designed, with plastic cladding on the angular wheel arches, while the rear fenders boast a particularly striking appearance. The back of the concept includes Y-shaped LED taillights, an integrated ducktail spoiler, a roof-mounted wing, and an aluminum-style skid plate, all contributing to the overall aesthetic of the concept vehicle. However, it's worth noting that the Mitsubishi Moonstone will not be produced and is solely a design study.
