After being used to big and loud unveiling events, this Hyundai Pony EV design concept got a quiet event. Based on the Pony from the 1970s The Korean automaker decided to fully update it with an electric powertrain.
The man behind this project is Hyundai’s chief interior designer Hak Soo Ha and can be seen at the automaker’s customer center at Hyundai Motorstudio in Busan, South Korea. What once was an original two-door Pony hatchback will amaze you now with an overhauled, modern touch and reminiscent features borrowed from the all-electric Ioniq 5.
Fro the plentitude of options for making an original Pony EV, Hak Soo Ha chose to fit the model with modern headlights, the rear Ioniq 5 similar LED taillights while featuring the same pixelated design. You could spot the camera-based exterior mirrors mounted on the fenders and the set of retro-inspired wheels.
The interior for the Hyundai Pony EV has a comprehensive overhaul including a unique three-spoke steering wheel and a distinctive instrument panel. As mentioned, the powertrain was fully removed because it did not fit the all-electric requirements. More details about the Hyundai Pony EV concept will be announced late, but you have time until June 27, 2021, to see it for yourself.
