Less Is More With New 2022 Suzuki Jimny Lite
by AutoExpert | 23 June, 2021
The fourth generation of Suzuki Jimny has been revealed 4 years ago, but the off-road enthusiasts keep on falling in love with it. In honor of that, Suzuki has just announced the Lite trim level. It will become available in Australia starting with August 2021.
Jimny Lite runs on 15-inch steel wheels wearing high-profile tires. There is halogen technology on the headlights, while the mirrors wear black plastic covers. What there isn’t there is the fog lights on the front bumper.
No changes have affected the 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated petrol engine, delivering the same 101 hp and 96 lb-ft of torque. The AWD works with a manual 5-speed transmission and a low-range shifter for extremer situations.
The interior downshifts to a standard radio/CD player from the regular infotainment system. Yet, we still get Bluetooth connectivity. The air conditioning will help fight the hot weather, with manual temperature control. More information, including the prices, will become available on July 1st.
The European Jimny, available only as a light commercial vehicle since 2020, carries the same setup. It doesn’t come with 4 seats anymore but does provide a larger cargo area.
Although the Australian Jimny Lite and the European Jimny LCV look alike, they are nothing compared to the Japanese Jimny XL – it comes with no fender add-ons but has various narrow tracks and bumpers.
Suzuki has announced some new family members when a 5-door model with a 1.4-liter engine will join the lineup.
