by AutoExpert | 1 July, 2024
Leapmotor, with Stellantis' support, has launched the new C16 in China. Elegant curves, flush-mounted door handles, LED lighting units, a panoramic glass roof, and 20-inch alloy wheels are all features shared with the smaller C10.
With a wheelbase measuring 111.2 inches (2,825 mm), the dimensions of the crossover are 193.5 inches (4,915 mm) in length, 75 inches (1,905 mm) in width, and 69.7 inches (1,770 mm) in height.
There isn't much in the cabin beyond a digital instrument cluster, a floating infotainment system, a 15W wireless smartphone charger, a dual-zone climate control system, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The interior is minimalist. The most expensive models come with a lidar-based Pilot Intelligent Driving Assistance System, a 15.6-inch rear entertainment system, heated and ventilated front and second-row seats, a 21-speaker premium audio system, and more opulent features.
A 1.5-liter engine, a 28.4 kWh battery pack, and an electric motor mounted at the back with 228 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque make up the range-extended powertrain, which motivates the vehicle. As a result, the crossover can go up to 124 miles on electric power alone during the CLTC cycle and can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 8.5 seconds.
A fully electric version with a 67.7 kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery pack is also available to customers. It powers an upgraded motor that produces 288 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. With that additional power, the electric vehicle can reach 62 mph in just 6.4 seconds.
Also, drivers have a range of up to 323 miles before needing to recharge. The fully-electric vehicle starts at ¥161,800 ($22,264), while the range-extended variation starts at ¥155,800 ($21,439).
