The GT-XR, the highest-end street-legal version of the KTM X-Bow, has been introduced. The X-Bow GT-XR, which has been lately teased, is remarkably similar to the GTX and GT2 race vehicles. A carbon fiber monocoque and a high-strength tubular steel frame support the X-Bow GT-XR.
The X-Bow GT-XR cockpit features a detachable carbon fiber steering wheel that conceals a digital gauge cluster, an adjustable pedal box, a rear-view camera system that is available as an option, and much more.
KTM went with a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder derived from Audi, which produces 500 horsepower at 6,350 rpm and 581 Nm of torque at 5,550 rpm. With those specs, the automobile can reach 62 mph in just 3.4 seconds and can go on to hit a maximum speed of 174 mph. This engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and a limited-slip differential that transfers power to the rear wheels.
The X-Bow GT-XR is also an ideal everyday driver due to its 96-liter fuel tank, electrically-assisted power steering, and optional 3.5-inch hydraulic lift system. In addition to the conventional downforce components, KTM says that the X-Bow GT-XR incorporates a floor section designed to optimize the ground effect thanks to swirls formed by the front splitter and channeled under the floor, creating an air seal beneath.
Suspension components were acquired from Sachs, and center-locking wheels are available as an upgrade. Pricey at over $282,000, with only 100 units planned for annual production.
