In Europe, 2022 Kia EV6 Is Officially The Car Of The Year
by AutoExpert | 1 March, 2022
The Car of the Year award allows auto journalists from 23 European nations to choose the greatest new car from the last 12 months, and Kia EV6 is the winner. The judges agreed not to count the votes of Russian representatives because Russia invaded Ukraine. The organizers declared in their statement that these votes would have had no impact on the winner's rating.
This year's award went to Kia EV6, which received 279 points from the jury. With 265 points, it outperformed Renault Megane E-Tech Electric.
With 261 points, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 came in third. The Peugeot 308, Skoda Enyaq, Ford Mustang Mach-E, and Cupra Born were the other finalists, with 191 points, 185 points, 150 points, and 144 points respectively.
Kia EV6 is also available in the United States with 58.0- and 77.4-kWh batteries. The smaller pack on a rear-wheel-drive variant offers a range of 232 miles (373 km) according to the EPA. The larger one extends the range to 310 miles (499 km).
Only the 77.4-kWh battery is offered in the all-wheel-drive version. The performance is 320 hp thanks to two electric engines (239 kW). The added power has the drawback of reducing the range estimate to 274 miles (441 km).
