In China, Ford Updates The Traditional Transit Custom

The newest version of the 2024 Ford Transit (Tourneo Custom) has already been disclosed in Europe. However, the joint venture between Jiangling and Ford has just released an updated version of the current model for the Chinese market, which is referred to as the JMC Transit.
The JMC Transit is a nine-seater vehicle that features a spacious cabin and is based on the long-wheelbase model of the original Ford Transit Custom.
The vehicle's exterior has been updated to reflect the design language of the EU-spec Transit Custom and is in line with Ford's latest design philosophy. The massive grille is flanked by thinner, more dramatic LED headlamps, and a light-colored trim piece gives the illusion of a full-width LED bar. The revised bumper now has sportier intakes laced with chrome components.
While the front appearance has undergone considerable revisions, the side and back sections have remained virtually the same. The JMC Transit's updated interior has a completely new dashboard design with a digital cockpit featuring two 12.3-inch screens integrated into the same panel above the climate vents.
Although the JMC Transit lacks the fancy steering wheel that can transform into a desk or table seen on the EU-spec Transit Custom, it still benefits from new technology, including 13 advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) that allow Level 2 autonomous capabilities, 64-color ambient lighting, remote control features, Baidu navigation, and a reversing camera.
In terms of performance, the JMC Transit comes with a choice of turbocharged 2.0-liter diesel or gasoline engines. Power is transmitted through a nine-speed automatic gearbox to the front axle, with a less expensive five-speed manual gearbox expected to be available in the near future. However, it's worth noting that the newer EU-spec 2024 Ford Transit Custom offers fully electric powertrain options alongside petrol and diesel options.
