Huynday IONIQ 5 Is The EV Mid-Size Crossover
by AutoExpert | 23 February, 2021
The last Hyundai IONIQ 5 is an all-new electric mid-size crossover and starts the ‘Ioniq’ electric sub-brand era. With a stunning Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which shows a smooth blend between the skateboard design and the elongated wheelbase, the car is a perfectly practical electric vehicle.
The E-MPG features both 400 and 800-volt charging, between 10% and 80% in just 18 minutes on a 350kW charger. The Hyundai EV crossover’s charging capacity equals 5 minutes of charge enough for 62 miles of range on the WLTP cycle.
Hyundai claims that the IONIQ 5’s total range is 292 miles, delivered by the two battery pack sizes (58kWh and 72.6 kWh), and is available on single and dual-motor layouts. The dual-motor layouts with the 72.6 kWh pack are recommended as the most powerful, claiming 302 hp and 605 Nm of torque, and a 0-62 mph in just 5.2 seconds. Meantime, the one-single motor model delivers a longer range between 292 and 298 miles, with 214 hp power and 350 Nm of torque. This model, also, is available with a 58 kWh battery pack which delivers 167 hp the same 350 Nm of torque.
Hyundai IONIQ 5 has perfect proportions with 4,635 mm length and 1,890mm width measurements, and a 3,0m long wheelbase, which makes it a bit longer than the previously released model. Also, the exterior has loyal uniqueness borrowed from the 45’s concept model. The main purpose for the exterior was to minimize the panel gasps for optimal aerodynamics, and this is the reason for the sharp design.
The designers also aero-optimized the 20-inches wheels for the very same reason.
When you buy the new IONIQ 5, you don’t just buy a Hyundai EV crossover, but a perfect association of the past, present, and the future.
