Great Wall Motor steps into the spotlight with the grand reveal of its latest creation, the Tank 700—a full-size SUV. The Tank 700, part of GWM's Tank brand, joins the lineup of off-road-ready vehicles, including the Tank 500 SUV designed to take on the likes of the Toyota Land Cruiser.
Rolling on 22-inch wheels equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tires, the interior of the Tank 700 is adorned with black and white seats and a starlight headliner reminiscent of luxury vehicles like Rolls-Royce.
GWM's Tank 700, unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show, boasts a hybrid body-on-frame construction and incorporates the brand's Hi4-T four-wheel-drive system. A 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine and an electric motor combine to produce an impressive 517 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque under the hood of the Tank 700.
This hybrid powertrain seamlessly distributes power to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic gearbox. As discussions arise about the potential availability of the Chinese competitor in the US, the Tank 700 is priced at 700,000 yuan ($97,078), positioning it as a more affordable alternative to the entry-level G-Class.
GWM plans a limited production run of 70 units in the initial batch, with deliveries slated for February 2024. The Tank 700 marks GWM's ambitious foray into the high-end SUV market, challenging the established players with its blend of performance, design, and competitive pricing.
