Ford Performance is gearing up to do something every Raptor owner dreams of – taking the F-150 Raptor R and Bronco Raptor to compete in the 56th edition of the grueling SCORE Baja 1000 off-road races, scheduled for November 13-18.
Aiming to showcase the raw power of the Raptor series, Ford has kept modifications to a minimum, focusing mainly on essential safety upgrades. The F-150 Raptor R, powered by a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine producing 700 HP, received a minor tweak to its intake system and is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Its suspension, including FOX Dual Live Valve shocks and tailored coil springs, is specially designed to withstand the harsh desert conditions.
The F-150 Raptor R will be piloted by off-road champions Loren Healy, Jason Scherer, and John Williams, competing in the Stock Full-Size class.
On the other hand, the Bronco Raptor has received a custom bumper, special Method Wheels, and modified FOX Live Valve shocks, while its stock coil springs are retained. Under the hood, the 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine with 420 HP remains unchanged. This rugged SUV will be in the capable hands of Brad Lovell, Jason Hutter, and Bailey Campbell, who will be competing in the Stock Mid-Size class.
The SCORE Baja 1000, known for being one of the toughest off-road races in the world, provides not only a competitive platform but also a valuable learning experience for Ford. By testing the Bronco Raptor and F-150 Raptor R in such extreme conditions, Ford aims to continuously learn and enhance the capabilities of its vehicles.
