Ford Eyes New SUV Production In Valencia, Spain

It appears that Ford may be producing a new SUV at its Valencia, Spain, facility. Even though there isn't a ton of information available, this model may be brand new and include a hybrid engine. With 4,800 workers on staff, the facility is now responsible for manufacturing the Kuga SUV.
Unfortunately, it is no longer involved in the production of the Mondeo, S-Max, or Galaxy. Although an official decision is still pending, Ford has said that it is interested in developing a new SUV model in Spain.
“We are closely monitoring the evolution of the European markets for opportunities to enhance our current product offering,” Ford said. “Given the changes we see in the industry, we believe there is an opportunity to add an all-new multi-energy SUV to the Europe cycle plan, to be manufactured in Valencia,” the company added.
There hasn't been a final decision yet, but Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez lauded the idea on X. “Great news for Valencia, Spain and the workers of @FordSpain,” —that's what he wrote.
In an interview with the Spanish journal Cinco Dias, the General Workers Union (UGT), which represents the manufacturing workers, provided an encouraging response. Additionally, Francisco Segura of the Valencian Automotive and Mobility Group characterized it as good news.
